Hamida Ait El Hadj is an Algerian director and playwright born during the Algerian Revolution in 1954. She began her career in theatre at three and studied philosophy and psychology in Paris before studying theater and film directing in Kiev. Hamida's first play was "The Song of the Forest" in Ukrainian, exploring Algerian issues. She has directed plays like "The Spoils" about family law and women's rights. She has also directed the film "Tramway of Desire" and produced children's programs.
